This week, I have a more focused sketch that I made in preparation for the Summer Daily Cardinal Cover. I know she doesn’t have arms, but I was just trying to get down the inking style and characterization. This is the sketch which crystallized the final feel of the characters on the cover.

Bonus: This little number here is just a doodle of eyeballs and superhero heads. I like to hang on to these scrap paper drawings. Sometimes the candid little drawings come out really fresh and raw when everything isn’t planned out. For some reason I just really like what’s going on here.

If you’re like me, you can’t live without a decent sketchbook. I use mine all the time and can’t help but save every single drawing or scrap of paper I have ever used. Who knows? That random doodle could inspire a masterpiece someday. Or at least make a good photoshop brush or texture.

Because of this, I decided to start a new weekly segment in which I unlock the sketchbook vault and post a particularly weird/cool/funny page of an old sketchbook. Enjoy!
